Rothenburg ob der Tauber

RothenburgRothenburg ob der Tauber, is a quaint, picturesque walled town that is part of the Romantic Road in Germany. The Romantic Road, used as a trade route during the middle ages, winds through the beautiful countryside in Bavaria connecting walled towns and villages.

To enter Rothenburg ob der Tauber you have to pass through one of the five medieval gates that date from the 13th to 16th century. Once you enter you will be delighted to find half timbered, colorful houses and storefronts with red steeple roofs.   This is a beautiful medieval town with narrow cobblestone streets, towers and turrets that will take you back in time.

Rothenburg City WallA fun way to see the town is to walk along the wall that surrounds it. The wooden walkway is covered and connects the five medieval gates and guards towers.
